The Young Makers’ Market is back for 2024!


The Young Makers’ Market is a youth artist market program that gives young people a platform to grow their small business ideas in a safe and supported environment! The market is programmed to be accessible, cost effective and offer access to necessary market resources like tables, chairs, and marquees.


Young Makers’ Market 2024 Dates:

  • Sunday 24th March – 10am-3pm
  • Sunday 23rd June – 10am-3pm
  • Sunday 22nd September – 10am-3pm
  • Friday 13th December, 4pm- 7pm (Special Twilight Christmas Edition)


Stall registration is open to all young people aged 10-25 years that live, work, study or recreate within Mount Alexander Shire.


Unfortunately we do not currently offer multiple event bookings or bookings in advance as we have limited stall spaces available and want to ensure everyone has a chance to book a stall. The Young Makers’ Committee will open registrations for each market 6 weeks prior to the event via our email list and social media platforms.

Be a Stall Holder!

Young people aged 10-25 can come and sell their homemade food,  horticulture, cosmetics, art, crafts and more at our Young Makers Market Events!

The only rule is that you have to have created or altered the product yourself!

Space hire is free and tables and marquees are available for hire $5 each.

Events are held quarterly at the Western Reserve Oval,  alongside our friends and partners, the Castlemaine Artists Market.

Be a Committee Member!


Mount Alexander Shire Council’s Young Makers Market Committee is a group of young people that develop, plan and deliver  4 market events per year for 10-25 year old’s in Mount Alexander Shire.

As a Young Makers Market Committee member you can gain experience in:

  • Event management
  • Booking venues & contractors
  • Marketing & promotion
  • Budgeting
  • Communications

The Young Makers Market Committee meet in the lead up to the event and after the event, for each of the markets events held each year. Meeting dates and times will be communicated a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the meeting.
