Overview

Over the Rainbow is a small committee of young people in our Shire who will help to bring Pride Formal 2025 to life… along with a “side project” of the committee’s chosing! The past two committees have produced Zine’s to showcase local queer youth talent, expression and creativity.

Healthy Equal Youth and the Victoria State Government funded the establishment of Over the Rainbow, with support from Mount Alexander Shire Council. So now the only question remains… What will the “side hustle” for 2025 be?

Expressions of interest are opening soon, so stay tuned for more info on how to apply to join the committee.

Project

Pride Committee 2025

Goal

To foster queer joy for the youth LBGTQIA+ community of Mount Alexander Shire

How will we do it?

Pride Formal 2025 and a side project for young people, by young people

Pride Formal

come as you are

and celebrate Pride together

Pride Formal is your chance to come together and dance, celebrate, and party with pride.

It’s important that young people of our shire have a safe space to express themselves, and Pride Formal means you can attend a youth dance in clothes that make you feel like you.

The Over the Rainbow Committee

a team of young people to lead decision making

help bring the pride formal to life

A cohort of young voulnteers will come together to help bring Pride Formal 2025 to life. This means regular meetings, brainstorming sessions, and each member of the committee will step into their own role over time and leave the project with new skills.

Additionally, our OTR committee will decide what side project best meets the needs of queer youth in our town. The last two side projects were Zine’s, exploring queer identity. But the 2025 project will be up to you!
